Camilla Battle proudly serves as Principal of John Marshall High School and is a proud member of the Class of 2000. Her career with Richmond Public Schools began while she was still a senior at John Marshall, working in the Office of the Superintendent. More than two decades later, she has served RPS students and families in a variety of roles, from administrative support and Head Start  to becoming the first school counselor at Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts.

Much of Principal Battle's career has been spent at John Marshall. She returned to her alma mater as a school counselor in 2011 and later served as Counseling Department Chair and Assistant Principal before becoming Principal in 2026. During her tenure, she played a key role in strengthening graduation planning, student support, and academic monitoring systems that contributed to John Marshall achieving a 100 percent On-Time Graduation Rate for two consecutive years.

Principal Battle is a student-centered and relationship-focused leader who believes in being present and accessible. Whether in classrooms, hallways, at school events, or talking with students and families, she believes strong relationships and a positive school culture are essential to student success. Her vision is for John Marshall to be a place where students are excited to come every day and staff love coming to work.

Principal Battle earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University, master's degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University, and K–12 Administration and Supervision endorsement through Longwood University.

For Principal Battle, leading John Marshall is both an honor and a homecoming. Having experienced RPS as a student and served the division throughout her entire professional career, she is proud to now lead the school that helped start it all.
